Welcome to The Jedi Way, a place where we can all learn to better integrate our body, mind, and spirit in harmony with the Eternal - however we may perceive it to be. This is a spiritual development site and not an entertainment site. We are, therefore, not affiliated in any way to the movies or Lucasfilms' wonderful, yet fictional, concept of the Jedi. The Jedi Way is a spiritual site that does not require renunciation of whatever religious path you may walk. Jedi Universalists recognize the validity of the numerous religious paths to God and that the Infinite Divine can never be constrained by the description, understanding, or dogma of any one religious path. No religion “owns” the Divine and here at the Jedi Way we demonstrate this by our respectful understanding and interaction with one another as each shares their experience of the Divine. The modern myth of the Jedi and the Force was drawn from elements of all the world religions, and as such, The Jedi Way is the common ground where people of diverse faith backgrounds can unite under a common code and shared principles to foster growth in spirituality, harmony, awareness, discipline, knowledge, and wisdom.
As we have said, we are exploring what 21st Century Terrestrial Jedi might look like and how to discover that path for ourselves. We want to be clear that we are not trying to build some fantasy where we are lightsaber wielding supermen, but rather striving to cultivate a spirituality rooted in the world religions of this Earth. Our attire may be reminiscent of the Jedi of modern myth, but we are serious seekers of the Truth and Harmony that eludes so many in this world.
The Enclave of Coelescere is a place to search for a spirituality that is drawn from the diverse traditions of the world. The concept of the Jedi mentioned in the movies provide a form, but not the substance, of our beliefs. Not everyone has read the Bible, not everyone has read the Koran, and not everyone reads Sanskrit but many many more people (people who span all these religions) have seen the movies. You can go through a long explanation of how our beliefs are drawn from the ancient beliefs and foundations of the world religions or you can simply say "I believe in the Force" and that common myth instantly gives people a general idea of what you believe without the baggage, limitations, and dogmatism accumulated in so many religious organizations today. By that, I mean that many of us here have been following a path such as this from even before the movies were given form, but the modern myth seemed to tie into this current that was running through the spirituality of so many and gave it name and form.
What we call the Force is called prana or Brahman by the Hindus, Chi, Ki, Reiki, and a variety of other things by other religions. However, each of these individual terms have a variety of nuances that are not all the same. The Force is each of these ideas/realities combined into a single living vision, with opposites held in together in an intellectual tension, rather than discarding them simply because we may not understand how seeming opposites can dwell together in the Eternal Divine. By using the term "the Force" we simultaneously separate ourselves from the confines of any one belief system while standing on the common ground that is created from the foundations and ideas of the world religions - where many of their apparent differences melt away and their similarities become illuminated.
We know that we will not all agree, and we all have different views, but here we follow the idea of Infinite Diversity in Infinite Combinations and recognize that the Force weaves its own intentions, of which we may not understand or be aware. In our disagreement we will not be divisive, abusive, nor disrespectful.
Coelescere (Co-la-sair-ay) comes from the latin words Coire and Coalesco, the English word coalesce and the French word coalescere. Looking at these words gives us a good understanding of the meaning and purpose of the Jedi Enclave of Coelescere and The Jedi Way itself.
Coeo or Societum Coire means to enter into an agreement, form an alliance, or to come and grow together; to meet, to assemble, to be united, combine, to agree, or the healing or wounds.
Coalesco means to grow firm or take root, to increase, to become established, thrive and become strong.
Coalesce means to grow together, to unite into a whole or to unite for a common end. It can also mean something that rises from the combination of distinct elements.
These words help to define Coelescere; a place where, with the trust and guidance in the Force, we may come together to form something greater than ourselves.
We sincerely hope you find something here to help you on your spiritual journey. Whether you actively embrace a religion, are unsure what you believe, or have been disappointed and discouraged by your previous experiences with religion, you are welcome here with us at the Jedi Way.
May the Force Be With You.
